I say "learn" because sometimes we judge others before we get the chance to know them which doesn't allow us to have love in our hearts for them. There is a quote from Mother Teresa and it says "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." Last year, I learned a great lesson about loving those around you.
I was in the Institute building on the DSC campus, and as I was walking to my class I passed this kid and he said to me "I love you." Now this kid was handicapped, but he had love in his heart for everyone around him and it was evident. I don't know why this particular instance hit me so hard, I think other days I may have not thought twice about it, but I'm glad it did because it made me reevaluate my life. Ever since, I have been inspired to become more like that kid. I'm not saying that it would be a good idea going around to random people stating that you love them, it might freak some people out [if you do attempt this, please let me know how it goes, haha]. I do think, though, that if you strive to have a love for others that it will show in your demeanor and in your actions. Those around you will feel it and they will be drawn to you.
As I've thought about my life and the experiences I've had up until now, these are the five things that as I look back I wish I would have done more of in the past, are things that I strive to develop on a daily basis now and hope to continually strive to do more of in the future.
