Inventory of Self

While the subject matter is on my mind, I'm going to go ahead and write about it. It would be foolish to wait until tomorrow or the next day and then completely forget what it was I wanted to write about in the first place, don't you think? [I do]. So here I go, rambling on again.
Tomorrow evening at work is inventory. Inventory is a process that we [most, if not all, retail stores] go through once every year in order to get all of our products back to the exact amount we have in our store. In order to effectively do this, the employees of the store have to count, recount, and rerecount [is that even a word? well for right now it will be:] all of the product that we have in our store. Yes, it takes a long time and that's not even counting all of the time in the days leading up to inventory that goes to making sure that we have product in the sheds that are in the back of our store accounted for correctly. As you now know or may even have experienced before, inventory of a store takes a lot of work! Despite all the work, it's worth every single breath and brain function it takes to count each and every thing. Why? Afterwards, our store knows exactly what we have so we aren't off in our system and telling customers we have two of a book they need when really it's nowhere to be found due to stealing, wrong SKU numbers, etc. I think great synonyms for inventory would be 'to refresh' or 'rejuvenate', because afterwards that's exactly what it is we did to the store.
This leads me to my whole point, believe it or not there is a point to this, and it's not just informing you on what a hassle inventory at work can be. As I was thinking about store inventory to myself, I thought of an analogy, that can relate to us as individuals [yeah, I'm cool like that]. I was thinking that in order for us to stay balanced in our life, we need to do a 'self inventory' every once in a while to make sure every thing's on track. How nice does it sound to be refreshed and rejuvenated? I think it sounds wonderful! As individuals, we shouldn't have too much of one thing and too little of another because that may just throw us off [I mostly am referring to inner qualities/characteristics]. It's important that we keep in check what it is we have and what it is we don't have so that those things we need we can work on achieving. Also, though, those things that we have that we may not need or that aren't helping us in our life, we can work on getting rid of them. If we strive to continue doing these things, we will be able to be who we want to be! Another thing, too, is that when we 'refresh' ourselves, it serves as a way to start brand new and not look back at what we may have been doing wrong up until this point. We are able to forget about that, and start completely fresh. I really like the idea of not dwelling on our past mistakes or faults, but beginning brand new what it is we have always wanted to begin. This may have been confusing to follow, it wasn't as easy to express as it was to think up in my head, haha. If everything else wasn't clear, I'll make myself clear right now when I quote Eleanor Roosevelt.

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift; and that's why we call it the present."

I want to live each and every day to the fullest and become the best person I can be.
