Lately, I have found myself going to Las Vegas a lot more than usual. I went a few weeks ago with my friend to help her find 'thee' wedding dress, I went last night with friends because two of the guys wanted to do the bungee jump off the Stratosphere [crazy I tell ya], but it ended up being too windy and they had shut it down. I am going again tomorrow with my sister and our friend for my sister's 18th birthday to shop and stuff which will be a blast!
Las Vegas is fun every once in a while with the great shopping, the tourists from all over the world, and I don't know if there is a better place to "people watch." I can only handle it for so long, though. After a few hours there, I'm ready to go home. I don't find any of the other stuff that goes on there appealing in the least bit. I have a hard time seeing all of the nearly naked women displayed on billboards, taxi's, trucks, and everywhere else. It makes me sad that the world in which we live has objectified women in such a way that there are thriving multi billion dollar porn industries, but it doesn't stop there. This negative portrayal of women is found all over the media in movies, tv, songs, music videos, and beauty magazines. I find it hard to watch women being disrespected in such a way, but even more so, the fact that they are allowing themselves to be disrespected.
We live in a world where it's hard to stay true to who we are sometimes, "to live in the world, but not of it." I realize, though, that yes it may be hard, it is the most important time to be adamant about staying true to who we really are as women.
Every woman is beautiful. We all possess divine qualities that the world is lacking. It's up to us to embrace those qualities and share them with those around us.
While it's hard to remember sometimes I want to remind you- You are important. & You are beautiful just the way you are.
"Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth."

Jamie, this is so true. Thanks for posting this. It is scary how women disrespect themselves and their bodies sometimes just for the acceptance of others.
