Time Just Keeps Chuggin' Along

I've always thought it was interesting that all of the years in our lives are, in a sense, controlled by clocks and calendars. Our years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and even down to seconds are planned around a clock. I'm not complaining at all, I am very grateful that we're able to measure time by calendars and clocks, haha. I'm just saying it's a weird concept to grasp. Even when you feel as if you are doing the same thing and you are remaining the same, time is moving right along. Things are changing all around you and you are getting older whether you feel that way or not. When I think back on times and experiences I've had, and I'm sure most of us do this, I can't believe that even though that event or time in my life seemed as if it had taken place yesterday in reality it's happened months or years ago.
Last summer at this time I was in Chimaltenango, Guatemala volunteering at an orphanage, and I cannot believe my two weeks that I spent there would be ending in two days one year ago. Whenever I think about that experience, which is a lot [obviously:], I smile. Service is the key to happiness. Everything from smiling and saying "Hi" to someone who looks like they're having a hard day to volunteering every week at a soup kitchen, any act of service is accounted for. Here goes me with my quotes again... I don't know who said this, but it's wonderful:
"Any time people reach out to help one of God's children in need, they actually minister to God himself..."
which is like the scripture in Matthew 25:40 that says:
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
I think back on my time in Guatemala and it was one of the happiest times of my life and i know it was because I had lost myself in the service of those children, but at the same time those children were serving and helping me.

Cute lil' Brandon saying "What's up loco?! What's up crazy?!"
